Because of the do-it-yourself focus of this course, the course standards require you not to use any of the following features of C++ or its associated libraries. We will not talk about any of these; don't worry if you don't know what they are. This is for people who get information from other sources.
Do not use features of the Standard Template Library, such as vectors. Do not use any type of the form name<type>.
Do not use type string. We will see a more basic way to handle strings.
Do not use goto or labels.
Do not use classes or define instance methods. (An instance method is a function that is defined inside a class.)
Do not use exception handling.
Do not use static variables.
Only use global variables in situations where they are explicitly allowed.
Do not use default parameters.
