Assessment of competence

Here, the student is expected to put the ability to use and to demonstrate not only competence in its use but also competence in choosing where to use it. The student's competence is assessed.

The setting for student learning
CSCI 3675 introduces functional programming. Students are expected to write functional programs that use recursion, and to solve simple problems on exams that involve recursion.
Rubric
Good. The student writes correct or nearly correct solutions using recursion in an exam question.

Satisfactory. The student writes partially correct solutions using recursion in an exam question.

Unsatisfactory. A student's work is unsatisfactory if it does not meet any of the above criteria.

Goal
At least 60% of students who pass CSCI 3675 are rated either satisfactory or good, and at least 30% are rated good.
